PES Publications Webinar Series

Part 13: PES Publications Webinar Series

(Page created December 2022)

The IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) has launched the PES Publications Webinar Series to promote articles published in the PES Transactions, magazines, and journals and to disseminate the research topics of these articles to an even wider audience. This part of the Author’s Kit provides interested authors with a brief overview of the process for becoming a PES Publications Webinar Series presenter. Links to the necessary forms to complete are provided as well as examples of successful webinars.

Overview

Below are the steps involved in the PES webinar process:

  • Step 1: The IEEE Power & Energy Society Webinar Application is completed and submitted along with a draft presentation and a signed IEEE Copyright & Consent Form.
  • Step 2: The application and draft presentation are reviewed.
  • Step 3: If approved, the webinar is scheduled and announced.
  • Step 4: The final version of the presentation is submitted.
  • Step 5: The webinar is held.
  • Step 6: The presentation slides and a recording of the webinar and are posted in the PES Resource Center.

Draft Presentation

A short 30-minute webinar is envisioned with 20 minutes of presentation followed by 10 minutes of Questions and Answers. Approximately 20 slides are sufficient. Please note that you must use the PES Presentation Template for your slide deck. The template can be found on the PES University Presenter Resources web page.

Webinar Application and Review

Complete the IEEE Power & Energy Society Webinar Application and submit it along with your draft presentation, and a signed IEEE Copyright & Consent Form. In the application, include five multiple choice quiz questions related to the information covered in your webinar. Quiz questions are used to provide attendees the opportunity to receive educational credit for attending your webinar. Quiz questions may be True/False. Correct answers to the questions must also be included.

Your slide deck and application will be reviewed by the Selection & Quality Control Subcommittee and you will receive the review comments so you can finalize your presentation.

If your slide deck and application are approved, a date and time will be scheduled for the presentation. Webinars are typically scheduled at least 6 weeks from the date of approval to allow exposure on the PES website and other marketing vehicles.

The Webinar

The PES Marketing team will fully support your presentation, setting up the registration through the WebEx platform, promoting your presentation through various channels (PES eBulletin, Social Media Platforms, email, etc.) to maximize the audience, and serving as host/administrator for your webinar. After you present, a recording of the webinar will be posted to the PES Resource Center.
