IEEE PES Member-Driven Initiatives (MDI)

The IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Governing Board has allocated funding for Member-Driven Initiatives (MDI) to support PES members, Chapters, and Committees.

  • Eligibility: All PES members are eligible to apply for MDI funding. While Chapter approval is not mandatory, coordination with the local PES Chapter is encouraged.
  • Fund Allocation: Although individual PES members can apply, funding will only be allocated through an IEEE Organizational Unit (OU) such as a PES Professional Chapter, PES Student Branch Chapter, IEEE Student Branch, IEEE Section,
  • Competitive Selection: Fund allocation will be competitive, and applications will be reviewed based on merit and impact. Funds will be distributed until exhausted, so early submissions have a higher chance of approval. The committee will also consider geographical distribution to ensure fair access to funding across different regions.

For any questions, please contact the IEEE PES Membership Development Committee at .

The PES Member-Driven Initiatives (MDI) Program provides financial support for IEEE PES Chapters, Student Branch Chapters (SBCs), and other IEEE Organizational Units (OUs) to enhance unique  engagement, outreach, and technical activities.
