Welcome to the High Performing Student Branch Chapter (HPSBC) Program 2023 webpage!
The IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) provides annual funding to the PES Student Branch Chapters (SBC) to carry out activities supporting their local members through the High Performing Student Branch Chapter Program(HPSBCP). This is the PES flagship program to support the student branch chapters. Every SBC that completes the basic application and satisfies the minimum requirements is eligible for basic funding of upto $150. However, all SBCs have the opportunity to get more funding (up to a maximum of $1000 per year) by completing a few more form fields. The HPSBCP award aims to:
Any IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter active in 2023 is eligible to apply for the High Performing Student Branch Chapter Program (HPSBCP) 2024.
The HPSBCP 2024 application online reporting link is sent to all PES Student Branch Chapter leaders. The SBC leaders need to work together to complete one application via the online reporting system to qualify their chapters for the HPSBC program.
Each SBC will be eligible to receive a basic funding of upto $150 USD if they have fulfilled the following two minimum criteria:
Best practices that will help your PES SBC to improve the HPSBCP awarded funding:
Each PES SBC that meets the defined performance requirements will be eligible to receive funding up to $1000 USD will be awarded based on the scoring criteria of the program. These funds are to be used to support the operational expenditure of the SBC. SBCs are encouraged to earn a larger award by organizing effective and more activities.
Please read the form-filling instructions, scoring rubric, and FAQ before reaching out the IEEE PES SCC by email. The team will be updating this information dynamically based on your questions and feedback.

Q: What if my student branch chapter name is not listed in the drop-down list?
Q: What to do if my PES student branch chapter was active in the previous year but failed to complete the IEEE vTools officer reporting?
A: If your student branch had a new officer installed for the year 2023, but missed completing the officer reporting, you can still do it now by visiting https://officers.vtools.ieee.org/ and searching for your SBC. More information on officer reporting can be found at https://vtools.ieee.org/vtools-officer-reporting-tutorials/
Q: What to do if my PES student branch chapter hasn’t reported any of the completed events in vTools?
A: Kindly visit https://events.vtools.ieee.org/ and report all the events organized by your student branch chapter in the year 2023. Resume with the form once you complete the step. More information on event reporting is available at https://vtools.ieee.org/vtools-events-tutorials/
Q: Can the same event be reported in different categories if it falls into all of those categories?
A: No. One activity can only be counted once.
