IEEE-2664 Standard for Streaming Telemetry Transport Protocol

IEEE Standard 2664 is a protocol designed for streaming data, whether continuously from a power system measurement device or on-demand from a remote archive. It operates over standard IP and leverages up-to-date security protocols without requiring changes to the standard. A TCP-based command channel enables real-time management of data flow and dynamic adjustments to data sets. Data is transmitted as individual values, minimizing fragmentation and avoiding the inclusion of unnecessary information, which also allows for sending data sets of any size. Additionally, the protocol supports data compression, featuring a high-efficiency, lossless compression method specifically optimized for this standard. An Amendment to the STTP Standard is in development that describes a file format for exchanging data among users based on the STTP real-time data format, but without using a network connection.
