What is the IEEE PES Scholarship Plus Initiative?
The IEEE PES Scholarship Plus Initiative is a program designed to support undergraduate students in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico who are pursuing careers in power and energy engineering. It provides financial assistance, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
What are the main goals of the program?

Eligibility Requirements

Who is eligible to apply for the PES Scholarship?
To be eligible for the IEEE PES Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Enrollment: Must be a full-time undergraduate student at a university in the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico.
  • Major: Must be pursuing a degree in an IEEE designated field (including Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physical Sciences, and more).
  • GPA: Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico.
Can international students apply?
Currently, the program is specifically for students studying in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
Do I need to be an IEEE member?

Membership is not required for first year applicants. Individuals who are selected as PES Scholars will receive IEEE and PES membership free for one year. Students are then responsible for maintaining IEEE and PES membership in order to be eligible for scholarship renewal.

When is the application deadline?

  4. Resume: Highlighting relevant coursework, projects, and work experience.

Recipients can receive up to $10,000 over three years:

  • Year 1: $3,000
  • Year 2: $3,000
  • Year 3: $4,000
