Jelena Ponocko

Dr. Jelena Ponoko is working as a Lecturer in Distance Learning, Department of Electricaland Electronic Engineering, The University of Manchester, Manchester, UK. She has been teaching MSc students attending the Distance Learning MSc course in Electrical PowerSystems Engineering. Her current research focuses on the analysis of the effects of wide-scale demand side management on distribution and transmission network performance.

Jelena has authored or co-authored over 40 research papers and technical reports. She regularly reviews papers for IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy, andPower Systems Computation Conference.Dr. Ponoko has been an active IEEE PES member since 2015. She is the IEEE Women inEngineering Representative of IEEE UK and Ireland Power&Energy Society (PES) Chapter.

Jelena was the Secretary of The IEEE Student Branch Power&Energy Society (PES) chapter at the University of Manchester. She actively participated in organizing the international student workshop MEEPS (“Manchester Energy and Electrical Power Systems”) 2016.Dr. Ponoko was a speaker at many international conferences and workshops. She represented The University of Manchester at the 10th Seminar for Next Generation ofResearchers in Power Systems 2018, organized by the University of Waterloo in Banff,Canada.
