Accurate modeling of Inverter Based Resource (IBR) plants in power system studies is essential for planning and the secure operation of power systems. Due to the increased penetration of IBR technologies in the power system network, a comprehensive approach is required to model the interaction of IBR plants and synchronous machines. Inaccurate modelling of IBRs can increase the risk to power system security. Different approaches and tools are available for the modeling of IBR plants and the analysis of their response to system events. The IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) provides technical resources and opportunities for industry professionals to stay informed and engaged in IBR modelling.
