IEEE PES is the leading organization for power and energy professionals in the world. And it’s because of our members. We have made significant progress in bringing forth new ideas to leadership. We need to build upon this success and welcome more ideas, energy, skill sets and talent within the leadership of our organization, so we can continue to execute PES’s strategic plan and mission.
We are looking for individuals to serve on the 2027 PES Governing Board. We encourage you to submit your own name, or nominate those you believe are qualified to serve as volunteer leaders of IEEE PES, for both Appointed and Elected positions.
The call for nominations deadline is 1 September 2026.

Vice Presidents (one-year term) – must be a PES member – IEEE Senior Member or Fellow Grade
- Vice President – Chapters & Membership
- Vice President – Conferences & Meetings
- Vice President – Education
- Vice President – New Initiatives & Outreach
- Vice President – Publications
- Vice President – Strategic Communications & Partnerships
Regional Representatives (two-year term) – must be a PES member – IEEE Senior Member or Fellow Grade
- Region 8 Representative – Africa, Europe, Middle East
- Region 10 Representative – Asia-Pacific (the term for this position will be subject to change based on potential bylaw changes to coincide with the IEEE regional realignment efforts)
Members-at-Large (one-year term) – must be a PES member and be of Graduate Student Member, Member, Senior Member or Fellow Grade. Up to 4 people will be appointed with a focus on the following areas.
- Digital Strategy and Member Experience
- Emerging Technologies
- Global Engagement in Standards & Technologies
- Tomorrow’s Leaders
Timeline of Activities (2027 Appointments)
- Call for nominations distributed
- 1 September – Call for nominations Deadline
- September/October – Appointed positions reviewed in accordance with the PES bylaws
- October/November – 2027 PES Governing Board is approved
- 1 January 2027 – Appointed individuals begin serving their term
Elected Positions (for service in 2028-2029):

- PES President-Elect (will serve as President in 2030–2031)
- Secretary
- Treasurer
These individuals will serve on the PES Governing Board & Executive Committee in 2028-2029. The PES President-elect will serve as PES President in 2030-31.
In order to be considered, the individual must be an active PES Member and IEEE Senior Member or Fellow Grade. Additionally, the candidate for PES President-elect must have served on the PES Governing Board. The qualifications and job descriptions for these positions are noted in Section 2 of the PES Operations Manual.
Candidates recommended by the PES N&A Committee will be presented to the PES Governing Board for approval in January 2027. The PES Election will take place in August/September 2027.
