IEEE Power & Energy Society Announces Inaugural International Meeting

Piscataway, N.J., April 29, 2025IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES), the leading provider of scientific and engineering information on electric power & energy, announced it will host the inaugural IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) International Meeting: Global Power and Energy Systems Resilience: Leveraging Collaborative Expertise (PESIM 2026) on 18-21 January 2026 in Hong Kong.

As part of our commitment to serve our members and the energy sector globally, the IEEE PES International Meeting is the premier power and energy engineering event outside North America. It will bring PES members, executives, power and energy engineers, key academics, and engineering students together for an opportunity to collaborate amongst a global audience.

“PESIM 2026 represents a profound moment for the world’s energy future by bringing experts, policymakers and engineers from every region together to collaborate on the unique solutions our respective energy systems will need to confront the defining energy challenges we all face,” said Dr. Shay Bahramirad, President, IEEE PES and Vice President, T&D Engineering at Pacific Gas & Electric Company.

Jointly organized by IEEE PES and the Research Centre for Grid Modernization at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, PESIM 2026 recognizes the issues facing energy providers across borders and aims to unite these communities by providing an international forum for experts to network, promote, share, and discuss critical power and energy topics. It also provides an additional opportunity for those unable to attend conferences held in North America to contribute to the conversation.

“Strengthening grid resiliency and building modern power systems is a complex global problem that will require innovative thinking from all corners of the globe,” said Prof. C.Y. Chung, IEEE PES President-Elect and Head of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. “By working together and sharing ideas among global energy experts, we can develop the smart energy designs, ideas, and solutions that will help build a better energy future for billions.”

At PESIM 2026, cutting-edge research and practical solutions for power and electrical professionals across five key areas will be showcased in the following areas: resilient grid infrastructure, modern power system operations, decarbonization strategies, digital transformation, and energy market policies.
