Call for Expressions of Interest – IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) Long Range Planning Sub-committees

Dear IEEE PES Community:

Thank you for electing me as your IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) President-Elect (2026 & 2027). It is an honor to serve our society in this capacity, and I look forward to working with and for all of you.

One of my duties in this position is to oversee the IEEE PES Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC), and I look forward to building off the successes from those who have served in this role before me.

The critical first step is identifying the individuals who are interested in serving on this important committee. If you are interested in volunteering, the following LRPC sub-committees are available: If one of these interests you, we kindly request that you complete the linked form.

I warmly encourage you to consider this opportunity to contribute your expertise and perspectives to PES’s long-term goals and governance. Your engagement will help ensure that PES remains globally relevant, technically leading, and inclusive for our diverse membership.

Eligibility:

The participant must be an IEEE PES member in good standing and shall hold a grade of IEEE Graduate Student Member, Member, Senior Member, or Fellow.

Time commitment:

The average monthly time commitment for sub-committee members is approximately 4 hrs, and a commitment of 8-10 hours for the sub-committee chairs.

The LRPC looks beyond the current year and advises the IEEE PES President and Governing Board on:

  • Long-term strategic goals, directions, and priorities for IEEE PES that enhance the member experience.
  • Recommend programs that bridge the IEEE Strategic Plan to our society and technical community
  • Potential changes to the PES Bylaws and Operations Manual; and<
  • New strategic initiatives and programs that will shape the future of IEEE PES.

To deliver our mission, the LRPC is structured to function through seven sub-committees (SC1–SC7), each focusing on key strategic areas:

  • SC1: Global Partnerships, Policy, and Leadership Engagement and Development
  • SC2: Technical Activities, Conferences, and Publications Strategy
  • SC3: Chapter Activities, Membership Development and Communications
  • SC4: Education, Skills, and Workforce Development
  • SC5: Emerging Technologies, Digitalization, and AI Readiness
  • SC6: Global Standards, Interoperability, and Regulatory Engagement
  • SC7: WiE, Young Professionals, NextGen Activities and Social Impact Engagement

We are now seeking committed IEEE PES volunteers from all regions, career stages, and sectors (academia, utilities, industry, government, regulators, and students/young professionals) to serve on these sub-committees. Service on an LRP sub-committee is an opportunity to help shape IEEE PES strategy over the next 3–5 years and contribute to initiatives that will impact our global community.
