Abstract:
Grid Architecture tutorial explores how objective based planning and interoperability requirements provide a cost-effective path to integrating grid edge assets. We will discuss these concepts with examples of interconnection standards, semantic interoperability and coordination architecture that applies across stakeholders and jurisdictions. With a focus on modern forms of resource aggregation and evolving market constructs, this tutorial will review the architecture features and qualities that enable scalable, portable and adaptable coordination to ensure grid reliability and rate affordability.
By the end of this tutorial, participants will understand how interoperability and grid architecture principles are applied to decompose complex systems into smaller subproblems and interfaces. The outcome of the described process leads to effective planning, enhanced coordination, and better utilization of grid edge resources, ensuring reliability and adaptability in modern utility environments.
