PES Scholarship Supporter – Anton Sahazizian and Laura Burke

Anne Marie Sahazizian

This Anne Marie Sahazizian fund was established by Anne-Marie’s family to celebrate her outstanding contributions to the Power & Energy Industry and her passion for supporting the next generation of well-qualified, entry-level engineers.

A devoted member of IEEE from 1980 to 2019, Anne-Marie Sahazizian, P.Eng., Life Senior Member, enjoyed a renowned career as an electrical engineer at Ontario Hydro and Hydro One in Canada. She was also an active member of IEEE’s Toronto Section as well as the IEEE Standards Association, Standards Board, and Charles Proteus Steinmetz Award Committee. In 2012 she was the recipient of the IEEE Standards Medallion “for major contributions to the development of standards”.

The Anne-Marie Sahazizian Scholar designation indicates that the funding for the scholarship comes from the Anne-Marie Sahazian Scholarship Fund. Thanks to the generous contributions in Anne-Marie’s honor, 6 scholarships were awarded to electrical engineering students in 2025-26. This brings the total number of scholarships funded by these contributions to 47.
